Advent Devotions: Week 2 Wednesday

The given scripture readings for today are: Psalm 103:1-10, Isaiah 40:25-31, and Matthew 11:28-30.

We've all been tired, worn down, at our wit's end. We all have friends. Some friends need us to help them. Some friends help us. Have you ever needed something from a friend, but for whatever reason never asked them for help. You just struggle on your own, feeling down and miserable.

Isaiah reminds us that God can do so many things. He created the whole world. All the bugs, the spiders, the birds, the squirrels, your teachers, you, me, and everything and everyone you see. Jesus tells us when we are weary and tired He will help us. This is a really good combination. Jesus is that friend, and He doesn't need us and when we need Him, we can remember He is the Creator. He is there to help us when we need Him and can do so much for us. Of course if we hunker down and refuse to let Him help, we will struggle on our own. But that isn't what He wants us to do. Do you know how to let Jesus share your problems? In this busy season with all the things we are asked to , all the burdens to carry, and troubles out there in God's Creation let us not forget that God created the world and has told us if we need help, He will always be there.

Let us pray:

Lord Jesus, help us to remember that you are there for us in our time of need. Guide your Spirit into our troubled souls and to remind us how to celebrate in the joy of your Creation.

Amen.
