Groningen Revisited

I recently blogged on the Groningen protocol (here) in which I had the idea that perhaps it might be ok, if truly used for infants in great pain and no hope of life. However, I've reconsidered on reading the discussions which have ensued. I now think that the removal of life support and application of pain therapy would be appropriate. But a policy of actively terminating life based on a medical evaluation is wrong. I also feel that the concept of removing responsibility from the parents is a ghastly idea and as I said in that former post, if it comes to pass here, I will not abide by that. In that case, either the law goes, or I do.
